The Practical Test
Need to Pass your Practical Test? We Can Help
Your driving lesson test will start with an eyesight check and then two safety check questions, one ‘show me’ and one ‘tell me’.
You will then start your practical test which will include one specific manoeuvres and roughly a ten minute independent drive. This can consist of following either a set of directions via diagrams or road signs.
The driving part of the test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying the the set manoeuvres. You can make up to 15 minor driving faults and still pass your test ( 16 or more results in failure ). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.
The driving test is straightforward and has been designed to see if you:
can drive safely
know The Highway Code and can demonstrate this in your driving
During your test you will be asked to carry out one reversing exercise. The reversing exercise will be chosen from:
reversing around a corner
turning in the road
You may be also be asked to carry out an emergency stop exercise.
